Blessing for the Blossoming
By Amba Gale
A blessing is a special speaking, and a special listening, or, as John O’Donohue says, in To Bless the Space between Us, “a gracious invocation where the human heart pleads with the divine heart, cries out to its divine ground.” Today’s poem, Blessing for the Blossoming, comes right out of my own, current journey.
We have a magnolia tree in our yard, which is springing into spring!!! Like the magnolia tree, I sense a gradual awakening in my own heart, my own spirit, and I ask for that, as well. Like a pilgrim, each morning, I walk the uneven path down to our tree, and wait, and listen, and hear what it has to say to me. As the light comes forth from the beautiful flowers, may we all awaken to our own new lives, coming into the Spring and summer of this year.
As I observe the tight buds unfurl themselves into the gladness of the day, each day more open, may we come into our own openness and the joyousness of being.
Each day, after my morning walk, a poem writes itself through me, and words get put on the next blank page of my own Reflective Journal. Each day, I read the prompt, and listen to what my listening heart tells me to write. Each day, through my connection with the natural world through this tree, this force of nature unfolding itself into its new life, I hear the words from my own fiery Muse come forth, written on the page before me. Each day, I ask for an ever-deeper sense of meaning and belonging.
May the petals of our hearts open gracefully, into a healing and transformation.
Blessing for the Blossoming
By Amba Gale
May the Spring’s
abundant flowers,
white and pink and yellow
swell my heart with gladness,
fill me with their surprises
of sweetness and of glory,
as I turn my face toward the natural world, once again.
May the tight budding
of the magnolia tree
inside my heart
slowly ripen to a full flowering,
accompanying me,
during these days
with its delicate sweetness,
springing toward life.
May this tree of friendship
in our yard
as it blossoms into its own fullness
in the next many days
mirror, and beckon to me,
the blossoming
the ripening
the opening
of my own heart.
